Greetings Westminster Students and Faculty!
I hope everyone had a wonderful break and is ready to be back in classes for the last push of the semester.
Meanwhile there are some things to get excited about:
We have an official email... Cool

We have begun a petition for Fossil Fuel Divestment on Facebook! So like us and go on 350.0rg and sign your name to add to our list of supporters.
Also, there will be a showing of the movie, Chasing Ice on campus next week which is really great for us to spread the word about our goals and get people talking about Divestment at Westminster.
I look forward to seeing some of you on Thursday from 4-5 at the Environmental Center so we can begin to make plans for conversations at Chasing Ice and really get this going.
Good Luck getting back into the swing of school life this week :)

Greetings Westminster Student and Faculty!
We are setting the meetings as a scheduled time from 4-5 at the Environmental Center on Thursday afternoons.  Get excited about what we are doing and make an effort to get to the meetings, it's where decisions are made and plans grow into actual events, petitions, letters and articles.
Brent, Lauren and I met with Matt who is the head of the Divestment team at the University of Utah at our last weeks meeting, and learned a lot about what they are doing as well as gained some insight into some of the other hurdles we can expect along the way.
The movement is in progress!  Can't wait to see you all on Thursday :)

The Dirty Truth on Tar Sands Mining in Utah

Tuesday, January 29, 7:00pm
Salt Lake City Main Library
Conference Room A
210 East 400 South

Utah Tar Sands Resistance is presenting a slide show about proposed tar sands mining in the scenic Book Cliffs of Utah. The Book Cliffs (Tavaputs Plateau) have some of the best wildlife habitat in Utah and could support a population of wolves. Hundreds of thousands of acres of high desert forest has been targeted for tar sands and oil shale mining. Damage includes deforestation, ground water pollution, destruction of wilderness, toxic spills, air pollution, and enormous greenhouse gas emissions.

Hey Everyone!
Welcome to the page for Westminster Colleges plan for divesting in fossil fuels.
I hope that this will act as a sort of bulletin board for everyone to be able to add and edit thoughts and ideas as we come up with a firm mission statement.

Additionally, I would like everyone to add their availability so that we can try and set up a time for consistent meetings in order not to get sidetracked and disconnected.
We are a part of a really important and cool movement that is likely to spark REVOLUTION!! Get excited about it and start the conversation at Westminster, lets get the news out there.
The team at the University of Utah meets on Wednesday mornings at 9 and would love to have some of us attend and meet allies in the fight.
Meanwhile lets work on trying to nail down a date to meet

Keep thinkin'!
